Editors for marketing and technical documents (independent contractors)

As are part of their overseas expansion efforts, the company produces and translates to English many technical documents (eg user guides), press releases, marketing presentations, white Papers, etc.

We seek several editors with the following attributes:

- Completely fluent English: Meticulous regarding grammar and punctuation, able to easily cut superfluous verbiage from sentences while retaining precise technical meaning, and excellent feel for appropriate tone and style of different types of content.

- Technical knowledge preferred: The company produces a diverse array of cutting-edge technologies. Applicants with technical backgrounds will be preferred; however, a demonstrat willingness to learn the basics of the underlying technologies may suffice for applicants with strong communications backgrounds.

- Any knowledge of or experience in China is preferred, and Chinese language is an asset.

- At least a bachelor's degree in a writing-intensive (English, communications, other humanities and social sciences) or technical field (engineering, computer science, information systems, etc.)

- Work or internship experience in the above areas preferred. Recent-graduates welcome.

Nature of work:

- You will be an independent contractor working from home (or a tropical beach with good Wi-Fi?)

- Subject to meeting the strict deadlines and quality standards required by our client, you are free to set your own hours and perform the work as you see fit.

- We will offer task-based (often per word) compensation, not based on time. This unsupervised work requires significant self-discipline. Late or substandard submissions will not be accepted; conversely, quick high-quality turnaround will be encouraged and profitable.
